What evidence is there for a biblical jesus?
by Touchofgrey inis there any independently verified evidence that a miracle worker called jesus existed and did the things that the bible said he did?.
the four gospels were written by unknown authors many decades after the so called events, so can't be considered as eyewitness accounts.
i think that there may have been a apocalyptic preacher who was executed by the romans and the story evolved from their.

Lee Strobel believes that the four gospels are eyewitness accounts, that's not true, biblical scholars date them to many decades after the so called events.
That's not independently verified evidence of a miracle worker called jesus.

I like bart Ehrman and aware of his work, prof james tabor is also worth considering .
This topic was more for those who still believe that jesus was a real person who performed miracles and was raised from the dead.
I have asked the question a few times and the ones promoting jesus on here won't or can't answer my question so I thought I would start a topic .

Ten reasons Jehovah’s Witnesses have the true religion (plus a bonus one)
by slimboyfat inthinking back when i was a true believer these are probably the top ten reasons why i believed jws are the true religion.
1. they show love among themselves by not going to war.
not killing your fellow believers in any circumstances, including war, would seem to be a very basic requirement for true christianity.

What were your reasons for believing JW have the truth?
My parents were coercive to believe that jws were the one true religion in the mid 60s and the new world would be fulfilled by 1975 ,so I was coerced by them as a child (they genuinely believed it was for my everlasting benefit) so it was all I knew at that point and continued to be a jw till my mid 50s ,when I educated myself about physiological manipulation and coercive control (was in a abusive marriage) and then realized that religion used the same tactics as domestic abusers. Then looked into jws and religion in general and the facts clearly showed that religion is a way to control and manipulate people. And that the bible is the uninspired word of man .
There is no independently verified evidence of a miracle worker called jesus ,and that the four gospels were written by unknown authors many decades after the so called events.

My comment was meant with a hint of sarcasm for those who still accept the four gospels were actually written by Matthew, mark, Luke and john as eyewitnes accounts. When in fact they were written decades after the so called events by unknown authors.

Maybe there was more than one preacher called jesus. So different instructions.
Or the gospel writers were not eyewitness of these events or conversations. And that they probably never even meet each other. So they each relied on oral story's that were passed down through the decades before it was written down.

Jehovah’s Witnesses or Jesus Witnesses?
by Vanderhoven7 inkeith writes.
you have just touched on a flawed doctrinal belief that is foundational to false religion.. first, it is important to understand what false religion means when they call themselves jehovah’s witnesses.
by this, they declare themselves to be “witnesses of the father” despite the fact that jehovah is not the name of god at all, but a concoction of human origin from the dark ages.. here is the flaw:.

Can someone please provide independently verified evidence that a miracle worker called jesus existed and did the things that are recorded in the bible.
The four gospels accounts were written by unknown authors many decades after the so called events, so not eyewitness accounts.
Jesus at best was a apocalyptic preacher who was killed by the Roman's as were many others at the time .

What would happen to a JW for celebrating Christmas?
by Vanderhoven7 inmark jones writes:.
if they were spied upon and it was reported to the elders they’d be “invited” to a judicial committee whereupon they’d be cross examined in a locked backroom by three men acting as judge and jury to decide if they are guilty.. .
if the elders decide that they are guilty, they’ll then decide if the person is sorry.

I knew some jws who would invite family members over for a special meal on the 25th of December including elders with the excuse being that everyone is on holiday. As long as no pagan decorations or a tree was visible nobody would bother.
Again jws cherry picking what they considered as pagan eg decorations and tree to make themselves different from other "Christian" religions.
Like the pagans who also believed in virgin birth, miracles like turning water into wine etc, resurrection stories, ascension stories .
One of the few things jws were right about the pagan stories that were accepted into religions and the bible so as to include as many people as possible.
What you find out when you do independent research into the bible and its stories.
